KINOU is het alt-folkproject van singer-songwriter Marije de Vries. Wat begon als een persoonlijke zoektocht naar vertrouwen en richting, groeide uit tot een hechte band waarin eerlijke liedjes volledig tot hun recht komen.

De muziek van KINOU draait om oprechtheid en menselijkheid: songs over twijfel, verbinding en innerlijke spanning, gebracht met een warme, gelaagde sound. De teksten laten vragen open, zonder ze te willen oplossen.

Sinds de oprichting in 2024 bestaat KINOU uit een vierkoppige bezetting van musici uit het noorden van Nederland. Naast De Vries bestaat de band uit Louis van Sinderen (drums), Nick Veenstra (basgitaar) en Elena Rota (cello). KINOU debuteerde met een live videosessie en speelde eerder al (in verschillende bezettingen) op podia en showcasefestivals als Eurosonic Noorderslag, Welcome to the Village en Into the Great Wide Open. In 2026 brengt KINOU nieuw werk uit en speelt de band shows in binnen- en buitenland.

Kinou is the alt-folk project of singer-songwriter Marije de Vries. What began as a personal search for trust and direction grew into a close-knit band where honest songs can fully come into their own.

Kinou’s music centers on sincerity and humanity: songs about doubt, connection and inner tension, delivered with a warm, layered sound. The lyrics leave questions open, without trying to resolve them.

Since its formation in 2024, Kinou has consisted of a four-piece lineup of musicians from the north of the Netherlands. Alongside De Vries, the band includes Louis van Sinderen (drums), Nick Veenstra (bass guitar) and Elena Rota (cello). Kinou debuted with a live video session and has previously performed (in various lineups) at venues and showcase festivals including Eurosonic Noorderslag, Welcome to the Village and Into the Great Wide Open. In 2026, Kinou will release new work and play shows both nationally and internationally.
